2018-02-09 The Costco Chicken Mystery

The best place to buy groceries on the Big Island is Costco.  Typically, several trips are made to Costco.  The parking lot is overrun with cars, carts and feral chickens.  Yep, you heard right.  Wild chickens.

Joyce does not particularly enjoy chickens.  She opens the car door, peers around to see if the coast is clear of chickens and then dashes for the door.  The chicken dash is quite entertaining for the other three travelers.

This year we pull up and park far away from the door.  Joyce opens the door and saunters to the door.  Wait a minute.  Where are the chickens?  Why is Joyce so calm?

Turns out that there are no chickens.  It is a chicken mystery.  What does Joyce know?

All Debbie knows is that there is a sale on Costco rotisserie chickens.  She also noted that Joyce has a knowing look on her face.  Joyce keeps commenting how big and tasty the chickens are this year.

2018-02-08 Travel Tips

Debbie and Larry are traveling again.  They are back in Hawaii for the month of February.  They left on Tuesday morning and arrived in Kona late that night.  From Debbie’s traveling experiences, she has some travel tips to share. (We know that you are all thrilled about this tips).   First, people there are reasons that restaurants have employees standing outside to take your order.  It is called expediting the order process.  They want you to tell those employees your order not chit chat with them.   Here are things that Debbie recommends that you don’t do while standing in those lines:

*  Wait until you get to the order taker to look at the menu.  (Do you need to get your eyes checked?  Are you not concerned about your fellow travelers and how they feel about you?  How will you know if you are on the correct plane if you can’t even figure out how to look at a menu?  Why are you standing in line if you don’t know what you want to eat???)

*  Act surprised that they ask you for your order.  (Really?  You didn’t see what the people in front of you were doing?  Stop playing with your phone!!).

*  Walk up and Interrupt the order taker to ask a question  (This annoys people standing in line especially if the order taker walks away.  It can make some people mumble and shout out things like “He is busy – Go Away).

*  Cut the line  (This does not make friends with other people.  Debbie especially takes this hard.  This upsets Debbie and Larry has to grab her jacket  to keep her from lunging at the Line Cutters).

Debbie suggests that you put her in charge of those lines.  She will whip those people in shape and send the problem people to the back of the line if they do not follow her instructions.  Debbie will offer more travel tips during her month in February.

Larry thinks that it may be a long trip to Hawaii.    His travel tip is to stand behind Debbie in one of those lines and not in front.
