Today, the group started back to Budapest. Larry and Debbie thanked their hosts for the wonderful hospitality. Pictures all around. There for a moment they thought kittens were parting gifts but only for the nieces who each left with a kitten. (Barbie is the one with Emma).
The group said goodbye and headed off to the next stop. They took a detour through Hunedoara which has gypsy palaces. According to the internet (it knows everything), many houses are built illegally on property that the gypsies do not own and are safety hazards (no permits). They noticed that many looked abandoned or incomplete. Debbie snapped a few from the floor of the car. Larry was much braver about taking pictures. Debbie was sure that the gypsys would not like their picture taken (Again she has been reading the internet). Dan says not to worry that he is a fast driver. You think these could be B&Bs?
The next stop was Corvin Castle. Cultural Moment; Corvin Castle, also known as Hunyadi Castle or Hunedoara Castle, is a Gothic-Renaissance castle in Transylvania, Romania. It is one of the largest castles in Europe.
Next stop was the Hotel Gellert. The three went to a Greek restaurant for dinner. The food was good but more importantly, the bathrooms were the most spectacular that anyone had seen. Everyone tried to be cool about their visit (somewhat unsuccessfully) . The most confusing was it had sliding glass doors to enter than sensed your presence. (You can’t be cool if you don’t know how to get in). Debbie and Larry may have to take Jerry and Joyce there to see the bathrooms.
So a castle in Transylvania – any vampires hanging around? I swear I saw a couple in Olympic National Park, but they were of the Twilight kind.
That’s the fanciest Gypsy city I’ve ever seen
It is very fancy but abandoned.
