Debbie and Larry opened their window at the Gellert to find a Marathon in progress. Debbie was very sad that she did not know about the marathon or she could have participated. (Larry just humored her and said “Yes, of course” and left off the when pigs fly part.).
Today was check out and the day that Charlie would join the trip. Dan had negotiated a good parking deal at the Gellert and they could leave the car all day. So, Debbie decided that they would take a Hop On Hop Off bus. In theory, the three would jump on and off and ride through the city seeing attractions gaining knowledge at every stop. In actuality, they stayed on the bus until kicked off which was always a surprise. It perhaps was not the best tour but it did show the attractions. However, the tour script was out of sync with the tour and the English version was hard to understand. Debbie and Larry volunteered Dan to translate The bus lady would also yell “THIS IS STOP FOUR BLAH BLAH BLAH talking over the tour recording. The three finally made their way to the top of the bus and were able to see better and hear fewer bus announcements.
Listen to this. The trio went to an Asian street bistro for an early dinner. Debbie says that anyone that ran a marathon needed Asian street food and this counted as a Chinese food dinner. Larry tactfully pointed out Debbie only ran after the bus a couple of steps and street food does not count as a Chinese dinner.
Next, they headed to the airport and watched Charlie’s plane land from the roof of the Budapest airport. They picked Charlie up and headed for their 6 hour night drive across Croatia. What did they learn on this drive? Sometimes the Croatian police do road checks in the middle of the night. ((Luckily, not their car). It is hard to find where you are staying with no street lights. Do not stop at a gas station to go to the bathroom if there is a bus already there. Hungarians charge for bathrooms while Croatia does not.
Charlie was dropped off at his room around midnight. The other three drove off leaving Charlie at his new Croatian Room with a promise to come back in the morning.
