The day began with Notre Dame, first church of the visit. A little history to show that the group is learning. The Notre Dame Cathedral Paris or Notre Dame de Paris (Meaning ‘Our Lady of Paris’ in French) is a Gothic cathedral located in Paris, France on the island of the Île de la Cité.
It was one of the very first Gothic cathedrals, and its construction took place throughout the Gothic period. Construction began in the 12th century and took 300 years to complete. The church features rose windows and flying buttresses. (Enough history). Debbie and Don have downloaded a podcast that is a walk through the church. Debbie listens to the entire podcast sharing tidbits with other members of the group who she notices often walk away. Debbie is not sure that they were truly appreciative. The podcast mentions Point Zero. This is considered the center of France and everything is measured from this point. It is signified by a brass plaque in front of Notre Dame. Some of the group began the treasure hunt disrupting Japanese tourist standing on stones posing with umbrellas. (Really? An umbrella really?) Yes, it was technically raining but one didn’t need to stand on a stone to keep the rain off especially if it was impeding the hunt. They eventually found the plaque.

Directly across the street was the Deportation Museum. It was a sad visit with more than 200,000 deported to the concentration camps never to return during German occupation. Deportation is not a good description of what transpired. It seems to be a sanitized name for a horrible occurrence.
After Notre Dame, everyone strolled along the banks of the Seine taking pictures. Debbie and Larry are taking artistic shots. You be the judge by your comments. In fact, I think someone already may have voted.
I vote for Art Shot 4. I love it. Those others are not as good.
1 and 4 are my favorites.
Did someone try and take a picture of a picture again on #3?? 4 looks really good, 1 is nice too but definite 2nd runner up.
Point zero is cool, I’m sure not many people even knew it was there! Way to be informed through podcast!
Debbie holding onto Larry so he doesn’t move while she shares podcast hints … does that work? If so, may try it with my kids! Have to say, I’ve been to Notre Dame and did not know about Point Zero, so there must be something to those informative podcasts!
I like 1 — but what’s the prize? Pride? hee hee
Someone did take a picture of a picture – Good eye or you know the photographer well.
